I thought writers had to have imagination,

but the writers couldn't imagine

someone not wanting to live in New York City,

couldn't imagine someone who didn't want to talk about himself,

couldn't imagine someone other than Mickey

making a run at Ruth's record

And because they couldn't imagine that last one,

they voted, by a wide margin, to endorse

Commissioner Frick's ridiculousness,

and then couldn't imagine

why I or anyone else might object
